Situated at an altitude of 1884 metres and covering an area of 139 <sup>km2<\/sup>, the lake has been recognized as a Ramsar site since 1995, making it an aquatic ecosystem of worldwide class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1988, the waters of Lake Naivasha dropped so low as to reveal Crescent Island. However, flight options can be very limited and quite expensive.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu\">Another option is to board a matatu, a kind of bush cab that usually departs from the River Road bus station once there are enough passengers on board.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu\">By car, the A104 takes you to Naivasha in less than 2 hours. Slightly longer, route B33 passes through the Great Rift Valley. While several boatmen offer to make the trip, many charge visitors a flat-rate fee that has nothing to do with Crescent Island.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu\">A conservation fee of KES 1,000 per adult and KES 500 per child is payable at the gate entrance to <a href=\"http:\/\/sanctuaryfarmkenya.com\/\">Sanctuary Farm<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"parc-national-de-nakuru-2\"><span id=\"nakuru-national-park\">Nakuru National Park<\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Located a little further north than Lake Naivasha, Nakuru National Park is a 188 km\u00b2 reserve surrounding the lake of the same name. The usual route is to take the A104 west to Narok, then south-west to Sekenani. Shorter journey times mean more time for animal watching. It&#8217;s easily reached by car, plane or train.<\/p>\n<p>To reach the park by land, it takes around 4 hours from Nairobi, 5h30 from Na\u00efvasha and 7h30 from Mombasa.<\/p>\n<p>By plane, there are daily flights from Amboseli-Kimana airport to Nairobi&#8217;s Wilson airport (30-45 minute flight) or Mombasa airport (1h30 flight). Flights operated by SafariLink or AirKenya Express cost \u20ac300 per person.<\/p>\n<p>As Amboseli National Park is not far from the new railroad line linking Nairobi and Mombasa, it is also possible to reach Amboseli by train. The Inter-County train leaves the Nairobi SGR terminus at 8 a.m. and arrives at Emali station 1.5 hours later. These rates are valid for 24-hour periods.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu\">If you opt for a self-drive safari, you must also pay an entrance fee for your vehicle (300 KSh for a car with up to 6 passengers).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"parc-national-tsavo\"><span id=\"tsavo-national-park\">Tsavo National Park<\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tsavo National Park, <strong>Africa&#8217;s largest<\/strong>, is a <strong>volcanic region of red earth<\/strong>, renowned for its iconic landscapes (Mudanda lookout rock, Mzima springs, Shetani Lava rock formations) and the incredible variety of its wildlife, including the <strong>Big Five<\/strong> and <strong>endemic animals<\/strong> such as the Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx and Waller&#8217;s gazelle (also known as giraffe antelope).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The park is divided into two distinct sections, <strong>Tsavo East and Tsavo West<\/strong>, each offering varied ecosystems and wildlife.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Crossed by the Yatta Plateau, one of the world&#8217;s largest lava flows (290 km), <strong>Tsavo East<\/strong> is home to over a thousand<strong>red-skinned elephants<\/strong> and numerous lionesses with their cubs.
