Description
In northern Finland, far from the busiest resorts, Saariselkä offers a more confidential and unspoilt vision of Lapland.
Surrounded by immense wilderness, the region is one of the best places in Europe to observe the Northern Lights and discover the traditions of the Far North. You’ll stay in an elegant Arctic Sky Suite with private sauna, at the Wilderness Hotel Saariselkä, a 4-star lodge set in the heart of the forest.
From dog-sled safaris to reindeer encounters, snowmobile expeditions and evenings under the stars, this trip combines adventure, comfort and relaxation in one of Europe’s last great wildernesses.
Day 1 – Arrival in Lapland
Flight to Ivalo and transfer to Saariselkä.
Settle into your Arctic Sky Suite and discover the hushed ambience of the Far North for the first time. Depending on conditions, the first aurora borealis may already be appearing above the snow-covered forests.
Days 2 to 6 – Arctic experiences & ICE-Med medical conference
The stay is organized as part of the ICE-Med medical congress. Each day is structured around morning discussions and conferences, as well as sharing moments at the end of the day.
Between these meetings, various Nordic activities are planned and will be organized according to the conditions:
- Dog sled safari
- Meet the reindeer and discover Lapp culture
- Snowmobile expedition through arctic landscapes
- Snowshoe trekking
- A trip in search of the northern lights
- Aurora borealis firelight vigil
- Free time to enjoy the ski area, private sauna or Saariselkä facilities (downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing…).
The detailed scientific program of the ICE-Med congress is sent directly to participants.
Day 7 – Final moments in Lapland
Free morning to enjoy the snow-covered landscapes of Saariselkä one last time before transfer to Ivalo airport for your return flight.
